Rogue nicotine lozenges review

Rogue is probably most known for its flavorful nicotine pouches. They also carry gums, tablets and, what I'm reviewing, lozenges. I picked up some recently from a local smoke shop.

There are 20 sugar-free lozenges in each metal tin, and they come in three flavors: peppermint, wintergreen, and citrus. The nicotine concentrations are 2 mg and 4 mg. Orders can be purchased directly on the Rogue website, from online retailers and various smoke shops. The price per pack is generally around $5.50. Note: the Rogue website sells the tins in packs of 5 with discounts on multiple packs and subscriptions. Other retailers sell the tins individually.

How to use Rogue nicotine lozenges

The nicotine absorption happens through your mucous membranes. So put a lozenge between your cheeks and gums. It's fine to move it around from side to side, making passes with your tongue, but they're not intended to be sucked vigorously or chewed. No spitting is required either.

The Rogue lozenges dissolve slowly, giving you a gradual dose of nicotine as you keep them parked. It's difficult to say how long they last when just parked, because I took a nap and woke up with a small mash of lozenge still in my mouth. As soon as I licked it away, it was gone. With normal usage—like being awake!—I can get anywhere from 20-30 minutes before I finally bite it.

The mouthfeel of Rogue lozenges as they dissolve is somewhere between the sweet chalkiness of a Smarties or a Tums but softer.

Rogue lozenge flavors

The lozenges taste pretty good. Not nearly as good as Velo's hard lozenges, but these are much easier to use and more comfortable to park in your cheeks. I actually prefer to use these over Velo's hard lozenges.

The mints are standard fare—they taste how they should. My favorite mint is peppermint, but my favorite flavor is citrus. Citrus is slightly sweet with a touch of orange flavor, and the peppermint adds a little bite to the experience.

Overall experience

I enjoy using these lozenges and they help me get into a zone. Besides the peppermint bite, there's no nicotine burning sensation like with some pouches, but that could also have something to do with the low nicotine concentration. Even though the nicotine concentration is fairly low, I can feel it working its way through my system within a few minutes.

If there are any cons to Rogue lozenges, is that it may be difficult for some to use them as intended. They taste like mints, but they're not. If you eat them and suck on them, the nicotine will go to your gut where it won't be properly absorbed. Just park them in your cheeks for the majority of the time they're in your mouth and you'll absorb the nic.

When it comes to oral nicotine products, Rogue is a force to be reckoned with. Although their pouches and gum tend to steal the spotlight, their range of nicotine lozenges is also worth celebrating. The flavors are fantastic, the size is just right, and the value is hard to beat. Each 20-pack tin costs roughly the same as a can of nicotine pouches.
