Vaporlax Draco Disposable Vape Review

Product intro and specs

The Draco by VaporLax is a disposable vape designed to keep you vaping longer. It’s got 1000 mAh battery life, twelve flavors to choose from, recharge capabilities, and an airflow controller. Onboard it’s loaded up with a whopping 16 mL of tobacco-free nic salt e-juice. Despite the size, the Draco is meant for MTL vaping, from a tight MTL to a mid-level MTL. The Draco is another disposable vape that makes you question what a disposable actually looks and feels like.

Flavors: Strawberry cream, citrus lemonade, peach ice, mango dragonfruit, luscious, red grape, strawberry kiwi, mango berry, sour cherry, blue lush, cool mint, mixed berries.

Size, look, and feel

The Draco is another one of these disposables that seems too well-made to be disposable. It’s got this glossy diamond textured pattern with a dual-color fade suggestive of the flavors. Atop sits a comfortable nipple tip with a transparent colored plastic housing that helps to identify the flavors.

As a size comparison, it’s got more girth than the Juice Head Bars and the DragBar, but it’s also shorter than those two and with more battery life and onboard juice.

Despite the fancy-looking body and shiny colors, this design feels more familiar to me since it’s more mechanical-mod looking—but I’d still like a more subdued design.

Getting started

With disposables, there’s very little to know to get started. Just remove it from the package really. But there are a couple of things to note.

The Draco has an adjustable airflow switch on the bottom of the device. That’s not an on/off switch. It’s super simple to use and easy to set where you want it. The switch opens up the draw from a tight MTL to a semi-loose MTL. While it’s a good airflow controller, the fact is that it’s a mouth-to-lung vape regardless of the setting.

Also, the device can be recharged via micro-USB. It would’ve been nice for it to be USB-C, but since it’s a disposable with a large battery capacity, it’s not going to be getting charged too often. Once I deplete one, I’ll update this section.

How does it hit?

The Draco has an MTL draw that goes from tight to loose MTL, but not quite a restricted lung hit. The hit is decent enough, albeit on the cooler side.

It’s difficult to describe, but the draw isn’t as satisfying or as full as something like the DragBar which is a tight MTL.  And occasionally, when I go to take a hit, the Draco’s activation sputters in the beginning if I’m drawing too lightly.

The throat hit varies with the specific flavors. Frankly, I prefer a stronger more impactful hit like in the DragBar, yet some may prefer the cooler, less pronounced hit of the Draco. Either way, with or without a strong throat hit, the nicotine level is 50 mg, so there’s going to be a bit of a rush regardless.

Are the flavors any good?

There are a plethora of options to choose from. Most have a cooling sensation, but it’s not overdone nor is it at the same level in all. Since there are 12 flavors, I’m going to take a random sampling of half of them for this review.

Luscious 

A watermelon flavor that tastes of more than watermelon. It tastes to have berries or something more, but either way, it’s one of the more sophisticated flavors of the bunch. It's sweet and tart, but with a slight bit of cooling. 

Strawberry cream

Heavy on the cream with a faint hit of strawberry. It’s not my favorite, though. It’s a little too creamy for me and in need of more of the strawberry note. Only a tiny bit of cooling. 

Mango dragonfruit 

Definitely a two-fruit combo. I can taste the two flavors independently of each other. The mango note tastes a little too green and is in need of more sweetness. The dragonfruit is good, but a bit overwhelmed by the amount of coolness. 

Mango berry

This flavor is hard to describe because it tastes far off from the target flavors. It’s something savory in it that blocks what is supposed to be there. Slight cooling sensation. 

Strawberry kiwi 

One of the more flavorful and accurate flavors of the bunch. Besides what’s in the name, there’s a medium level of coolness that hits first, but that strawberry kiwi comes in full on the exhale.

Red grape 

At first, I didn’t care for this flavor, but it’s grown on me. It’s almost like the flavor of a frozen red grape. Medium to high level of cooling.

Verdict

The Draco disposable is a serious-looking device that feels at odds with the “disposable” side of things. But since there is 16 mL of juice on board, that gives you more time with it than almost all others in its class.

I prefer the look of these over the loud colors and even flashing lights of the Dragbar, but the flavors of the Draco didn’t knock my socks off. And the draw sensor sometimes cuts out if your draw weakens too much.

I like the device but do have my fair share of cons with it. That said, there are many pros to the Draco, namely the battery life, recharge capabilities, number of flavors, and mL of juice on board. If you like a cooler vape with a strict MTL, my recommendations are the red grape, luscious, and strawberry kiwi.
