The TASTEFLEX UltraLock 50K is the kind of device that makes me want to find the nearest vape shop and talk to other vapers about it. It’s got a unique feature that only another vaper would appreciate. It’s billed as the world’s first motor-controlled auto-wicking system, essentially a self-squonking type of disposable. Imagine that!
Inside the TASTEFLEX UltraLock 50K, there’s a self-priming pump of sorts that feeds liquid to the coil, but only when needed. Every so often, you’ll hear and feel a faint click-clack, click-clack while taking a draw. That’s the motor-controlled wicking saturating the dual-mesh coil. There’s something oddly satisfying about it.
The TASTEFLEX UltraLock 50K is equipped with 25 mL of 5% nicotine in a see-through crystal tank, two power modes, and it runs on a 900 mAh USB-C rechargeable battery. Other features are a 1.7-inch LED curved screen for battery and power mode status and an automatic draw. The UltraLock 50K also has adjustable airflow, making it vape well from MTL up to a restricted lung hit.

Size, look, and feel
The TASTEFLEX UltraLock 50K is a streamlined device in terms of overall aesthetics. Besides the bright curved screen, the UltraLock is minimal, letting the vape quality wow you instead of theatrics.
Overall, it is a typical-sized disposable with a 900 mAh battery and holding 25 mL of liquid. But it does have a more slender frame than others on the market, likely because it doesn’t have additional flavor tanks attached.
The mouthpiece is a rounded duckbill-style, made from transparent, hard plastic. Although I do like bite-friendly mouthpieces, I wouldn’t call it a real con, since it's still very comfortable. I thought I should mention it, though.
Other than that, the main design feature you’ll notice is the crystal tank that looks partly opaque until you look at it in a little bit of light. You can see the entire contents of your liquid supply, giving you all the confidence you need to know how much liquid you have left. Who needs a liquid indicator when you have a crystal tank?
Getting started
This is how disposables should be. Simple! Open the package, remove the plugs, and take a vape. Well, you’ll have to press the little power button to wake up the device, but it’s ready when you are. If you want to change the airflow, the slider is on the bottom of the UltraLock 50K. It doesn’t have presets, so if you really like the airflow where it's set, just keep it there. The range is from MTL to RDL.
Other than that, there’s nothing you need to know to get started. The screen shows which power mode you’re in (switched by pressing the button from normal to Boost), and the battery status as a numerical percentage.
How does it hit?
The draw of the UltraLock 50K goes between an MTL and a restricted lung hit. The MTL has a nice resistance to it, but it’s slightly shy of a strict MTL. The RDL could even be an actual DL, but due to the 5% nicotine, I stop shy of even trying it. Otherwise, it’s a very pleasant draw. A slight amount of air can be heard as you take a hit with the airflow open all the way, but in MTL mode, it’s silent.
Regardless of where you have it set, feeling and hearing the little click-clack is its own reward. Maybe I’d feel it was a gimmick if the vape quality wasn’t so notable, but it’s evident to me that what’s going on inside the device is exactly how TASTEFLEX advertises it. Apparently, due to the unique motor-controlled auto-wicking, the UltraLock 50K won’t leak from long-term storage, changes in pressure, or any other common ways a device can leak. I can’t say for sure whether it wouldn't leak on a plane, but I have no reason to doubt what this device claims it can do.

For a new brand, TASTEFLEX has wowed me with the vape and flavor quality of their offerings. Most of their flavors taste sweeter and more vibrant than your typical disposables.
White gummy: The sweet and bright flavor of the transparent gummies. Easily my favorite. Medium cooling.
Tropical gush: Juicy and bright with a sweet-tart push-up.
Blue razz ice: Classic blue razz but with more sweet than tart. Medium cooling.
Triple berry ice: Cool, pure mint with just enough ice to clear the palate.
Watermelon lime: Tart lime with a sweet watermelon aroma.
How long does it last?
The TASTEFLEX website states that in normal mode, you can get 15 days of vaping, and in Boost mode, about seven days. I don’t know about all that, but you can get more than a couple of days of fairly consistent vaping---a little more or less depending on the mode. I think it’s a legit 25 mL in these devices.
As for battery charging, it’s all standard fare. Charge like you would any other electronic USB-C device. The UltraLock 50K has pass-thru charging and takes about an hour to charge completely. The screen will show the percentage while it’s charging.

Verdict
For me, the TASTEFLEX UltraLock 50K is second only to the Lost Mary Ultrasonic 35K as my favorite disposable. It doesn’t have a novel atomizer system, but it does bring something unique to the table. The motor-controlled auto-wicking system is an advanced vape technology that enhances the experience and builds greater confidence in the device.
The flavor and vape quality of the UltraLock 50K are vibrant, accurate, and very consistent. Feeling and hearing the click-clack of the motorized wicking is a pleasure. Sometimes I let mine sit for a little while, hoping I get it on the first hit.
I also appreciate the design of keeping the liquid separate from the coil. I believe NEXA was the first to introduce that idea to the market. But with the TASTEFLEX UltraLock 50K, it takes that whole idea to a new level. Now the liquid is separate and fed only when needed!
