Innokin Klypse Zip Review: Prefilled and Refillable!

The Klypse Zip is the latest pod system by Innokin. Innokin has been around for a long time, but it is more of a quality-over-quantity company, so they haven’t pushed out a million products. But when they do make new products, they are usually pretty good. They mostly make vapes for beginners, but they’ve also made some advanced devices during the dual-battery mod craze.

The Klypse Zip is a simple and beginner-friendly pod system. Its internal battery is listed at 650 mAh and it comes with pods that have a 2 mL capacity. They also offer prefilled 2 mL pods in a variety of flavors, for people who would rather not deal with filling up pods or buying bottles of juice.

Build quality and design

The Klypse Zip is a tiny square pod system that is very easy to pocket. While we’ve seen quite a few of these pods lately, most tend to be flashy; the Zip is all about blending in. I’m assuming they named it Zip because it kind of looks like a Zippo lighter and even comes with a cap, so you don’t get lint or dust in it while not in use.

Its body features a solid color with nothing but a small Klypse Zip logo on it. There is also a hoop for a lanyard (which is not included.) There is no adjustable airflow on the Klypse Zip, and it offers a solid MTL vape that has some restriction but is not fully restricted. There are also no buttons or settings whatsoever, what you see is what you get.

The device weighs very little but feels really solid in the hand and doesn't feel cheap at all. Even with a pod full of juice it only weighs around 45  grams.

On the bottom of the device is a hidden LED that you can still see from the front under the Innokin logo when lit up. The LED acts as a battery meter and is only visible when vaping, but you can also check it by popping a pod in or out or by pulling off the cap.

Getting started

The Klypse Zip is as basic as it gets. No buttons, no on or off, no settings. Just inhale when you want to vape and pocket it when you are on the go. The included cap offers protection from outside elements getting into your pod.

Filling the pod is basic. The pod itself is magnetic and comes in and out very easily. It’s not tight in there but the magnets hold it in place well with no wiggle if you shake it. After removing the pod, you can see a rubber plug on the side that you remove to expose the fill hole. The 1.2-ohm pod comes with a blue plug, while the 0.8-ohm pod has a black plug.

The pod is about half exposed and has a tint so the juice level can be hard to see. You need to tilt it when it gets below half so I'll ding them for that. I much prefer pods being clear and fully or almost fully exposed. They are just easier to use.

Overall though, the usage is perfect for first-time vapers looking to quit smoking or someone who wants something small that doesn't make a lot of vapor to get through the day.

Performance

The draw of the Klypse Zip is a solid MTL with no adjustments and is slightly on the restricted side. I was only sent the 1.2-ohm pod and they only include one in the kit, so I'll have to ding them for that. Kits should always include a spare pod and, if possible, different ones so you can try and choose what you prefer. The 1.2-ohm pods were great though and lasted a solid 15-20 mL of juice. Flavor was good for a pod system. No complaints there.

They also offer prefilled pods and sent some of those as well. Like many prefilled pods, they were pretty good, but a couple in my opinion had too much cooling. The “AQbull” was on point as far as tasting like an energy drink, but it’s not my kind of flavor. I did enjoy the lemon tart one though as it was lighter on the cooling and tasted good. The cherry limeade and peach ice were solid as well.

They offer around 16-20 flavors according to their site, and the ones I got weren’t listed there. So the option is there for people who want a more JUUL-like experience, but I prefer using my own juices and refillable pods. Note that the prefilled pods are even darker, so you can’t see the juice level at all.

Overall, though very happy with the performance of the 1.2-ohm pod and that there are options for everyone.

Battery life and charging

The battery of the Klypse Zip should last people a full day. It comes with an internal battery listed at 650 mAh, and charging is listed at 5V/0.75A. I’m actually happy they did that, as most companies round all the specs up, but they didn’t do that. The port is USB-C and it is located on the bottom of the device, so it has to lay down when charging.

I tested the device and for the charge rate I got a max of 0.8A, so great rating there. For battery size, I got a usable 700 mAh, which is a little above the rating, so they really did a good job delivering what is listed. For charge time, it’s a little over 60 minutes, which is solid considering the battery size. It does have passthrough vaping as well, which is great.

They really should have spaced that out better in my opinion. When charging, the light will be red till 90% then green until full when the LED turns off.

Overall, Innokin did a great job making a solid pod system for beginners here. I do have some small gripes, but overall, it’s worth picking up if you need an easy-to-use pod system with good battery life. The coils perform well and last for long, and while I don’t use pre-filled pods, having extra options is never a bad thing.
